What is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is a condition in which excessive sweating causes discomfort in daily life. When excessive sweating occurs throughout the entire body, it is called generalized hyperhidrosis. When it mainly affects specific areas such as the hands, feet, underarms, scalp, or face, it is called localized hyperhidrosis.

Symptoms of Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis Botox is only effective for primary hyperhidrosis.

Type-1 hyperhidrosis occurs without an underlying medical condition but causes excessive sweating in specific areas during exercise, heat exposure, emotional stress, nervousness, or anxiety. Hyperhidrosis Botox is indicated only for these cases. Type-2 hyperhidrosis is caused by an underlying medical condition, and treatment of the underlying condition should be prioritized.

How Hyperhidrosis Botox works

Blocks the neurotransmitter that tells the sweat glands to produce sweat!

Sweat glands require a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine to stimulate sweat production. Botox works by effectively blocking the transmission of acetylcholine. The effects generally last 3-6 months, although the duration varies considerably from person to person, so maintenance treatment should be planned according to individual response.

Recommended for

Those concerned about excessive sweating of the underarm, palms, or soles

Those who want to treat hyperhidrosis before an important event

Those who frequently need to change clothes during summer because of excessive sweating

Expected Effects

  • 다운타임 당일약속가능

No Downtime; return to daily activities immediately

Q&A

Are there other treatment methods besides Botox?

Oral medications containing ingredients such as glycopyrrolate or Ditropan are available. These medications have anticholinergic effects that suppress sweat gland activity and are used to treat hyperhidrosis. However, because oral medications affect the entire body, patients with dry eyes should use them with caution, as they may also cause dry mouth and constipation.

What are the advantages of Hyperhidrosis Botox?

For localized hyperhidrosis, Botox is generally more effective than topical or oral medications. When sweating is suppressed in one area, excessive sweating may sometimes occur in other areas, a condition known as compensatory hyperhidrosis. One of the major advantages of Botox treatment is that the risk of compensatory hyperhidrosis is relatively low.

I'm worried about developing resistance to Botox!

The risk of Botox resistance increases with higher doses and more frequent treatments. In this context, "frequent" means receiving treatments at intervals of less than one month. For cosmetic facial treatments, the typical dose is 10-50 units, which is relatively small and carries a very low risk of resistance. For Body Botox, the risk of resistance is also considered low when less than 300 units are used in a single treatment.

When is the best time to receive Hyperhidrosis Botox?

If treatment is scheduled according to the time of year when you experience excessive sweating, one or two treatments may be sufficient to manage hyperhidrosis. For example, receiving treatment in May or June, before sweating becomes more severe, can help control excessive sweating throughout the hot summer months.
